1.
Ascension… emerge from the abyss and gaze upon a precipice. Awaken a consciousness adorned in soil. Longing for a breath of the unknown, unshackle preconceptions and revel in transcendence. Effervescent daydreams surface and dissipate, give way to a lord 85BB65. An eternity in seconds evaporates at the sound of her voice. An endless cycle of repetition blurs the boundary of lucidity. A sudden thought gleams and beckons. Gates open to reveal pathways infinity. A silent procession, wordless and emotionless. Sounds of his former existence fade. Her face now formless and distorted. Ushered forward by a soundless call. Waking somnambulant walking for hours or days, the forest edge appears in predawn spectral aura. Shimmering tendrils of light dance in the fog, celebrating the periphery of ancient roots. Forcing eyes open he finds himself deep in the Wildwood. Trekking deeper in to the wood reveals the anomalous origins of unfamiliar flora. Roots surface, climbing out of the earth. Indistinguishable calls echo cacophonous. Rays of light radiate in all directions. A moment of terror and euphoria. He continues onward, his feet bare and bloody. Autonomy has always been an illusion. He arrives at a perfectly circular clearing.

[An instant, the meaning of everything, expansion in all directions, outward and inward all dimensions in the wellspring of wisdom, the knowledge of God, verity, new-found omniscience]
3.
He places his hand upon cold stone. Energy flows through his body, exorcised into the monolith. A sadistic apparition pierces his vision. Unable to release his hand from ancestral rock, all knowledge is violently removed. Omniscience flows mellifluent, like blood from gashed arteries. Tears of plasma stream down his face. A silent scream as the pain of millennia courses through his veins. Weeping and fetal in the clearing center, all that remains of the monolith is ash drifting slowly through the air to rest upon his withered body. He lies curled into himself, wishing for his mother’s womb, dreaming of a sanctuary from the horrors of the cosmos. “Fool,” cries the ancient sequoia. “The hubris of these creatures saddens me. “ Her roots spread throughout the forest and the furthest reaches of the Earth. “Fool,” sighs the prehistoric cousin of Yggdrasil. “It was all a test and he failed miserably…”
4.
Awaken… arise from deepest slumber. Follow the guiding light from the presence of the moon, no comfort only loss, and the grip of crippling solitude. The onset of night reveals more menacing sounds of the unknown. Unwavering terror clings, no euphoria to follow. A grave mistake was made, yet no memory will serve him. A violet stag appears before him, his eyes an infinite black. Words whispered by the timeless Guardian resonate within his being. Unwanted memories forcibly returned. Tears of blood flow endlessly, to be absorbed by ancient roots. He wishes more than anything to forget the stag’s words, unknown for eternity. The mistakes of man untenable, and the world demands retribution. Stepping forward a cave invites him to join the celebration. The reunion of ancient roots. Cataracts cloud his eyes, useless in the abyss. His skin withers and desiccates and his lungs struggle for air. He prostrates himself to cold hard ground. Surrounding roots begin to stir, warm and tender. Creeping slowly, grasping limbs. A toothless smile spreads as he drifts away.
